'Gay Christians' - A paradox that is almost comical.

Hi guys. It's me again. Last time, this was one of my concluding statements in my last vent which you can read here :   I find a certain group of members of the LGBT group really 'adorable' - the gay/lesbian Christians. I also said it was a discussion for another day which is why I am here today. Here's what I mean by that statement. N.B: If Christianity or religion is not your thing and you don't believe in the Bible, then this is where you turn back and walk away from this discussion. Thank you for complying. Now, back to what I was about to say.   I find them 'adorable' in the sense that I think it is really cute of them to claim to be Christians when their whole lifestyle revolves around the reason why a certain city in the Bible was destroyed. Remember the city of Sodom and Gomorrah? Two angels were sent to visit Lot and his family and warn him of the impending destruction of that city, only for the immoral men of the city to demand th...

'Tolerance and Acceptance' - The LGBT crew and apologists' mantra and the fault wherein.

I set off a liberal snowflake's trigger senses a few days back when I noticed a picture of two gay men and in the usual fashion of what I did when I saw something interesting, brought it to my WhatsApp story with a caption that showed how annoyed as heel I was that those two gorgeous men were gay and how it was a 'waste'. The person went off on how they were on their own, minding their business and I decided to shame them. Not in the mood to get into a ruckus with the person, I just said okay and let it pass. However my own trigger senses were set off. What had intially been meant to be a joke on how fine the gay men were and unavailable to women, turned into something else. It had turned into a wake-up moment for those who were able to look past the wool of liberality cloaking their eyes, those who were not just jumping on the bandwagon of being 'woke', to analyse these things critically. The liberals are fond of asking everyone for tolerance and acceptance of ...

Gratitude for the little things.

Image
What are you grateful for today? Life you'd probably say amongst other things . It would likely be at the top of your list. Relatively good health too might likely come after. Your family too maybe. How about those little things that usually go unnoticed? What kind of  little things you might ask? I would give you an example: You have this sumptuous plate of sizzling hot Jollof rice in front of you. You've said your meal time prayers, next you pick up your spoon, take a spoonful of rice and boom! It goes inside your mouth, you don't think of it. It's comes naturally. Same thing goes for a glass of water. You place the cup close to your lips and down the water goes. Again it comes naturally. Another one: You are at the bus stop, you're waiting for a bus going to Iyana paja. A bus comes. You want to ask the conductor if he's headed there. You shout 'Iyana paja?' Again you are able to do it naturally without any stress. It comes quick as lightni...

Save or Trash? - Bey Shouldn't Have Remained in her Marriage After Her Husband Cheated.

Image
Yesterday, Jay-Z, husband to the queen Bey herself of the BeyHive, released a new album and the whole world of rap is so excited about it. Not a rap fan but I saw a lot about it on my timeline yesterday. On the album, he was said to have admitted to cheating on Bey, and apologized for doing that. Well, finally we know Beyoncé wasn’t bluffing in her Lemonade album about being cheated on and on that occasion where Solange had gotten quite physical with Jay-Z in the elevator and allegedly accusing him of cheating, he actually deserved those punches he got. Well, one of our beloved Twelebs (Twitter Celebs) believes Beyonce shouldn’t have remained in a marriage with a cheating husband because staying in the marriage sends the wrong message to young women who look up to her. Here are his exact words I just believe beyonce should have left because staying sends the wrong message to the young women who look up to her. — Nigerian God (@Echecrates) June 30, 2017 Hold up! 'Save or Trash' - New Feature of the A.M.A Writes Blog

Hi guys. I hope you liked the twist on the snow white fairy tale I did. If you did, don't forget to share. On to the matter on ground today, social media can be one of the best places to hear some of the most absurd, strangest and most amusing opinions. I’m quite active on Twitter - awon observing twitter gang though. Since I’m so active there and I’m back now on the blog for real, I decided why not share some of the ‘wokest’ - yes I said wokest – ‘Woke Twitter’ opinions I have seen there.  For those who are confused by the term ‘Woke Twitter’, it's just is a way of describing individuals who according to Paul Joseph Watson in the Urban Dictionary are “completely deranged, hysterical and see racism/oppression in virtually everything”. They are individuals with a perceived state of intellectual superiority, are ‘aware of social and political environments regarding all demographics and socio-economic standings’ and constantly fight against seeming indoctrination such as re...

BBNaija - The Kemen Incident and My Take on it.

Image
Big Brother Naija, a show known for its gross immorality and lewd scenes disqualified a participant for being immoral. The irony, I know right? You all know who that housemate is by now. Our brother in the lord, Kemen. The reason being that he was caught on camera groping and sexually harassing Tboss in her sleep. The gist of it has gotten so popular that there's now a new phrase called kemening someone. I don't really have to explain that do I? Ever since he got into the house, the guy had been trying his luck with anything that has a vajay to see where he would fit his dirty agenda into. He had always been a very thirsty nigga. People who watch the show should know. Not out of line, I guess, given the kind of show he was participating in but he just didn't know when not to cross the line. I saw the video footage. What Kemen did was obviously wrong. He also knew what he was about to do what wrong which is why he looked around to see if anyone was watching before proc...

#AMVCA2017 - Ama Writes favorites from the red carpet.

Image
The highly anticipated AMVCAs for 2017 has come and ...gone. Personally my favorite part of watching it live was the red carpet event. All those celebrities, their outfits, the glitz, the glam the paparazzi and the buzz that is associated with the red carpet. This year several celebrities showed up even Aunty Oge Okoye, the alleged 'dog thief' came too. Yeah yeah, I know the awards are about celebrating film making in Africa and what not but there are already enough posts on the internet giving you guys a briefing of the awards so I am not going to do that.  Instead I am going to present to you *drum roll*, a list of five outfits, female of course, that I actually really really really liked and are hence the AMA Writes favorites from the red carpet. Reason why I am not doing a male list cos well male outfits to all these fancy events are usually, what's the word to use? Predictable. Sorry dudes. Anyways, here are my five favorites from the event:  Toyin  Abraham (f...

Remy, 'Another One'? Oh no, you shouldn't have.

Image
Hey people. A few days back Remy Ma, who I honestly had no idea who she was till that time, dropped a 7 minute long rap diss track, Shether  to shade Nicki and the whole internet was on fire. She was the rave of the moment. The buzz was so much I had to listen to the track myself even though I am not a big fan of rap. Even though I do love Nicki, I did have to admit she had murdered her in that track. Like literally. It had been brutal. I had to go back to do some research on why she would come for Nicki like that. Turned out, they do have a history of beef. I hadn't wanted to comment on it because rap wasn't really my thing. So I kept quiet even though I silently agreed with a very few minority that Nicki should not even bother replying. Remy Ma in my opinion was like this nasty itch you had that you shouldn't scratch else it would get worse. But then about 5 days later Remy releases another diss track calling it ' Another One ' and the internet responds. T...

Internships, SIWES and Industrial Training - Choosing HiiT Plc a wise decision I made.

Image
Image Credit: HiiT Plc Facebook Page:  https://web.facebook.com/HiiTPlcLagos/?ref=bookmarks  Hi guys. This is just a quick unpaid ad. I usually don't do this as I don't think I have enough fan base for it but it's for a good course and I am hoping a few people out of my relatively small fanbase might actually benefit from this. So here goes.  Well, as some of you from my other blogs might know or have known, I was on Industrial Training IT for the period of 6 months last year at a company named HiiT Plc, the Lagos branch. Belief me, when I say it was a good choice to eventually settle to do my IT there, it was actually a very good choice. It paid off real nicely.    I didn't only learn how to do stuff I could apply in my school work especially in my final year project,  I also got to learn stuff I could apply to my blogging and social media management which I know I haven't really been consistent with but hey we've got about 75 Facebook followers ...

Double standards everywhere!

Image
Hey guys. It has certainly been a while. It's good to be back though. So, while I was away, the long "awaited" Big Brother Naija reality show started. I am not crazy about the show, I am still not crazy about it. Morally, it's a terrible show on TV but then it has been rated 18, so yeah I guess children shouldn't be watching it. I, though,  have watched it a couple of times on TV recently though. I follow the twitter commentary more often though. You guys have got to admit, the twitter updates are way better. Anyways that's beside the point I came here to make.    Recently something happened in the house and people have been reacting to it. The whole social media moral council and brethren with their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram divisions and sectors are out for blood; for Bisola's blood only apparently and I must say, I am very disappointed. Highly disappointed in our society today. Such double standards everywhere.    Yes, it's abou...

'You're too smart for a girl'

Image
Image credit: memegenerator.net Hi guys. I know this title sounds a little off but by the time I am done with this post you guys could probably help me come up with a better title for it. You're probably wondering, what is she going to talk about again today. Well keep reading to find out. I don't mean to brag but I have always been one of those academically brilliant kids in school. You know those kids that win so many awards at the end of the school year and some parents start telling their children "does she have two heads?".  ðŸ˜‚😂 I still believe I am even though it's a tad bit tougher to keep up with it in the university. Anyways a few days back, we were meant to have a test. Studying all night is not my thing. I usually dedicate two or three hours to study and when I am done I know I achieved something. After the test (which I think I aced btw), we were to have another. I was talking with a coursemate and then somehow the topic of the last test and h...

The trend of Ladies Proposing to Their Men - Yay! or Nah, too forward.

Image
Photo Credit: www.giwaspeaks.com African ladies who propose to their guys. What do you guys think about it? It has suddenly started becoming a trend on social media with ladies taking things into their hands as some would say and proposing to their men. I recently saw a viral picture of a lady doing this and I am held in awe of her courage. Common to ask all these small boys out they will start using you to do shakara or taking you for granted because in their church mind, you are being loose. With this trend of African women asking their men to marry them various views arise. Some don't feel this is proper. They keep quoting this verse of the bible: Proverbs 18:22 as their reason. For those who aren't familiar with the Bible I would paraphrase it for you. Basically that place says that he who finds  a good wife has found a good thing. In essence people who are against this trend are thus saying that the Bible only agrees with a man finding  his wife not his wife findin...

#Headies2016 The Wizkid Snub - Publicity Stunt or Nah?

Hey A.M.A Writes blog readers. We really do have to come up with something catchier like BN readers or something. That aside, I hope your week has been good. Mine has been awesome. I got to catch up on lost sleep these past few days I got home. School has really been a mad house. But that's not what I am here for. The Headies 2016 held yesterday was not without its usual drama. In the 2015 Headies, it was all about Olamide drunkenly coming on stage to air his grievances that Lil Kesh didn't win the award he was nominated for. This time around we didn't have any producer coming to the stage to air his grievances about his signed act not winning an award. We had something quite different. A viral video has been going round of Wizkid totally and completely snubbing Eva Alordiah's fiance when he tried to hug him. If you haven't seen the video yet, you can watch it  here . Now this doesn't really come as a surprise to me because I have always thought Wizkid was too...

Toke Makinwa's 'On Becoming' - 5 lessons I learnt from the Buzz and the Saga Surrounding the Book

Image
Hi guys. It has been a while. A really long one at that. I mean for the duration of my absence Trump won the US elections (somehow I always knew that most Americans had issues upstairs), Lilian Usoro and Ubi Franklin's marriage is in trouble and a bit more recently, our dear aunty Toke has become an author. So quite a lot has happened. I know Toke's book has been released a while back and i didn't want to say anything about it in addition to the fact that I barely had any time but right now somehow my big mouth can not keep shut. The buzz on social media was mad and finally, finally......wait for it.. She admitted she was bleaching. You know that's my favorite part in all these sage and gist that was unfolding as the nook got released. She finally admitted she was bleaching. To all those out there I might have mentioned it to, tada! in your face bitches. Anyways back to what this post is about. Although I haven't quite read  the book, I have seen e...

The JJC's guide to job hunting in Lagos - By Ada

Image
I was watching a show on tv yesterday. A new comedy of African Magic Urban called Hustle. Basically the story is about this Johnny Just Come a.k.a JJC that came from Jos to Lagos. Yesterday's episode was about him going on job hunting. He happened go for an interview after so much ruckus in the morning at the place where he was squatting and arrived there late. Fortunately for him, the incorrigibly rude receptionist was able to get him to be interviewed. Now here's the interesting part he had to pay 2500 Naira to be interviewed. Everyone who has lived in Lagos for a while knows where this is probably heading but still there might be some JJCs like that guy reading this so I decided to do a job hunting 101 crash course for them. The basic principles found in this crash course applies everywhere but most especially it is vital for those in Lagos. "But she's still just a student, what does she know about job hunting?" You might say. People say experience is the ...

Cinemas, 'Massage' and 'Breez'

Hey there. How did your day go? I am hoping it was alright. I have been relatively new to Twitter. Had never really had a need for it till recently especially as it's one of the 'in' things now and ever since I joined it, I had been addicted. Addicted is probably too strong a word to describe the phase I am going through now but it has been really cool especially if you are following the right people. Anyways, I discovered a new favorite account today. #drumroll The  Sub Delivery Man . I usually saw their tweets been re-tweeted on my timeline but I usually just scrolled past it. This afternoon I saw it again and out of curiosity and boredom decided to check them out. I just kept scrolling and laughing till I got hooked. I continued scrolling till when I came across this tweet containing this hilarious story. The rat dropping from ceiling story. It was so funny I was really rolling on the floor laughing a.k.a rotfl. Here's the story. Now it's quite essent...

Adekunle Gold's Ariwo.. Was he Throwing Shade At Someone?

Image
Image Credit: Google Images Hey there I am back today. How's your weekend going? *laughs*. Yes you read that right. How's your weekend going? After all, the government has added an extra day to our usual two-day weekend. I hope it is going well and you are enjoying yourselves. Well, I am here to do amebo again today. As we all probably know, Adekunle Gold's Gold Album (did you see the alliteration there? 'Gold's Gold album' ) has been around for a while now and it has a some good songs on it (at least the ones I have bothered to listen to). However, one particular song, one unique song with a lot of underlying messages interested me. It probably is my favorite song on the album, my current favorite. That Ariwo Ko song. Nice beat, great message. But now the thing or the koko is that the message is too strong, too direct. This probably is stale gist but since I haven't seen it on social media, it likely means it hasn't been brought up often.  Am I...

The 'Friend Zone' - Exclusive to guys only?

Image
Image Credit: Google Images. Before I introduce this topic properly, I want share this definition of 'friend zone' I found online by Wikipedia. Before I did this post, I decided to check out online if there would be like a specific definition for the 'friend zone' situation. Out of curiosity, I had told myself "Ada just check type the words 'friend zone' on the google search page to see if you would find a definition for it" and voila! there it was. I never expected to see a definition of it especially not on Wikipedia so when I saw it, I was quite amused. Anyways here it goes, the 'friend zone' as defined by Wikipedia: The friend zone  is a situation in which one of two  friends  wishes to enter into a romantic or sexual relationship, while  the  other does not. It is generally considered to be an undesirable or dreaded situation by  the  lovelorn person. There you have it. I don't have to define that anymore. Wheew! You want t...

The ‘Special Someone' Belief- Illusion or Not?

Image
Image Credit: Google Images. What do fairy tales like ‘Cinderella’ , ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’ have in common in their  story lines ? The happily ever after ending with the characters ending up with their ‘special someone’; Poor Cinderella with Prince charming, Sleeping Beauty with her white horse riding sleep-awakening prince handsome and Beast with Belle who had turned him turning into a handsome prince by giving him a kiss ‘true love’s first kiss’. As a result of watching these cartoons as a children, somewhere deep inside of us we have this little voice in us telling us that somewhere, somehow, there’s that special someone set aside specially for us meant for just us and us especially we ladies.  The question that arises from the rational part of our brain, the part that deals with facts and reasoning not blind belief becomes “Is there such thing as the ‘special someone’? If so what makes that someone ‘the special someone’? Is it because you t...

How long is too long?

Image
Image Credit: Google Images Hola! I hope y'all are having a great day. Anyways, I am here with this issue for us to deliberate and discuss on. I am going to bring the issue to you using this hypothetical situation below.  So you know this couple have been dating for a while now. Then one day, the guy takes the lady, a lady in her mid-twenties to a restaurant (or a buka as I heard of in one case) and when the lady is not looking, he goes down on one knee and asks the one question every normal Nigerian lady wants to hear in her life. "Would you marry me?" The lady gets all excited grinning from ear to ear as she says yes. They are officially engaged waiting to get married. They tell you that they are getting married and you are happy for them. How long is too long such that that engagement ring that once brought so much joy turns into a "key holder"? How long before that woman becomes "Lord of the rings?" This question was throw open on a pl...
