A Valentine Day Fiasco Chapter 15 – Epilogue.

1 year later.
John was standing at the altar with his father beside him standing as his best man. He looked around the audience and saw his mother with the biggest gele he had ever seen, dabbing her eyes with her handkerchief. If not for the seriousness of the occasion he would have laughed. Mummy Dele could not believe her son was finally getting married. He turned his eyes away from his mother and saw his baby sister. She had adjusted to things properly after her husband had been prosecuted and received a jail term of 15 years for spearheading the kidnap of Cynthia his soon-to-be wife and her friend Rachel. Their eyes met and se gave him a thumbs up. Lanre was with and she made him waved to John.
Then, he heard the processional “here comes the bride” hymn and looked up ahead of him to see Cynthia in her beautiful white wedding gown walking slowly towards him with her father while everyone else stood up as she entered. He beamed, grinning from ear to ear. Today was officially the happiest day of his life. He could hardly wait for them to be pronounced man and wife.

At the other end of the hall, Cynthia adjusted her hand in her father’s hand as she walked steadily to avoid falling. She couldn’t believe she was actually walking down the aisle. It was actually her wedding day. It was even more unbelievable that she was getting married to John. The guy that always disturbed her in high school, her ‘mortal enemy’. It felt like she was dreaming and that anytime soon someone would pinched her so hard or dump a bucket of water on her head and she would wake up from this wonderful dream. However it was not a dream she realized when she found herself standing beside John in front of the pastor.  She saw Rachel giving her a thumbs up in her pink maid-of-hour dress and she smiled. It really wasn’t a dream. She was truly getting married and to the love of her life. No one would be looking at her pitifully again because she wasn’t married. Even better she was marrying someone way better than Phil. She turned to stare for a bit at John looking all dapper in his tux and smiled. Valentine’s Day was officially her favorite holiday. John was all hers all because of one Valentine fiasco. She grinned even more. This is all mine. She said to herself. All mine, she repeated.
